It has always been this way and always will be this way. Here is a link that talks about Thomas Jefferson and his dealings with Muslims, I'll post a bit for those too lazy to click the link.In 1786, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams met with Tripoliâs ambassador to Great Britain to ask by what right his nation attacked American ships and enslaved American citizens, and why Muslims held so much hostility towards America, a nation with which they had no previous contacts. The two future presidents reported that Ambassador Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja had answered that Islam "was founded on the Laws of their Prophet, that it was written in their Quran, that all nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as Prisoners, and that every Musselman (Muslim) who should be slain in Battle was sure to go to Paradise."

Usually just statist, one world utopia circle jerkers like yourself.
Deplorable Neighborhood Threat kingnotail • 9 days ago
Not sure how you come up with that from my post or the link I provided, but I don't think they are overrated at all, certainly not compared to politicians today.

Another pro-"religion of peace" list... Aww let's feel sowwy for the persecooted Muzlimzzz... :'(Modern Europe is a secular, humanist society (which like it or, deny it or not, was founded on Christian understanding - and I say that as an atheist and former practicing Muslim). If you want to live there, adapt to its values or leave; just as would be expected of secular, humanist Europeans living in ultra-conservative Saudi Arabia, or even more liberal Islamic countries like Indonesia. All religion is backwards and medieval but Islam in particular is the worst of the worst. It is regressively inward looking and intolerant. It is barbaric to women and non-believers. It was founded by a cave-dwelling pedophile for goodness sake! Lastly, a fact that is always buried, the very name "Islam" means "submission"; that benevolent being that commands you to slaughter the unbelievers also demands you pray to him 5 times a day... What a vein, capricious and narcissistic being he is to demand the perpetual submission of all mankind. Methinks that's more the whims of the child rapist that founded the "religion of peace", Islam. This comment will be deleted soon. Because, you know, we can offend liberal and secular values but don't you dare contest a religious doctrine that is considered the unaltered word of God (but wasn't actually written down for the first 600 years of its existence; so was effectively a generational game of Chinese whispers)...Oh and before anyone says, I'm a former Muslim. Born in Lebanon, I adapted to Europe's values; I didn't expect Europe to adapt to my values like the vast majority of Muslims do.

That's not very PC!!!Ironically, Isis was attacked by a female assassin and have since banned the burqa. What's funny is, no one who is whinging about the bans in the west is saying anything about the isis ban. Women in burkas are called "the last true feminists" by some! ! We are considered both "racist and sexist" for even considering a ban, but not a peep from these wackos about the isis ban. They seem to like low hanging, easy, western and white targets!! But what else is new?
firefly DQ • 8 days ago
Agree DQ. The hypocrisy and weakness of the left would be fucking hilarious if it didn't put us all at risk. Just look at some of the apologist dogma from the usual suspects (you know who I mean) on this website for examples.

We are committing slow suicide over here with self hatred and apologia!! I know exactly what you mean on this website!! Self loathing at its best!

This is always a fun topic because i love watching liberal heads spin. Men controlling women's sexuality or a brown skinned minority being told they need to change their culture? They don't know which way to be outraged . Both usually get their panties in a wad. In the end they realize that brown skin people are more reliable liberal votes than women, as well as higher on their "oppressed" rankings, and so women get a big FU on this one.

Why are we picking on Muslims? A long dress and a niqab conceal as much of the body as a nun's habit. I have not seen any country try to ban nuns from wearing habits.I am a Jewish person who opposes discrimination anywhere it pokes up its ugly head!

Anomandaris walter77777 • 8 days ago
Stupidity on display. Nuns are religous authority's. Dickless, insecure muslims forcing women to wear a sheet is not the same thing. Give your head a shake.
Phil Giordana Fcd walter77777 • 8 days ago
No, a niqab covers the face, leaving only a slit for the eyes. A burqa doesn't even have a slit but a mesh instead. The hijab is the commonly worn headscarf. That one would be closest to *some* nuns attire (most of them don't wear a veil anymore). And still, nuns have made a vow of celibacy and service to their faith, which is completely different from Mrs Muslima.
walter77777 Phil Giordana Fcd • 7 days ago
You are of course correct. I meant hijab. For hundreds of years nuns have worn habits, and no one has said anything about them. I don't know what nun's celibacy has to do with this.
MyOwnViewpoint walter77777 • 8 days ago
So only woman involved directly in the Muslim church have to wear those things?
Jon Storey • 9 days ago
Absolutely right to ban them. There's talk of the police in the West Midlands allowing women to wear burkas to encourage them to join the force. I find this astounding that we are pandering to minorities in the UK, when in Syria men are wearing them in defiance at oppression of women. Yet we invite it!?!
kingnotail Jon Storey • 9 days ago
Urrrgh... Mr. Right-wing fucking Daily Mail paranoid sensationalism I presume? There is no "talk of police allowing women to wear Burkas"....it was in the news the other day that female muslim PCs sare allowed to wear the hijab, you know, just like male Sikh PCs have been able to wear turbans for years already? But hey, why let facts get in the way of a bit of bullshit exaggeration...
psage • 9 days ago
I would ban them for security reasons alone because they have been used to commit terror attacks, but I feel that it is dehumanizing to woman to have them hidden away because the men of the muslim culture would be unable to control their urge not to rape them if they saw their exposed skin, it's disgusting and legitimizes the misogynistic attitudes of the muslim culture.
Anomandaris psage • 8 days ago
How fucking pathetic is it that the sight of cleavage or a leg will drive muslim men into a rape frenzy?Fucking barbaric, subhuman scum that have no place in western society.A bigger bunch of primitive, insecure, dickless Neanderthals cant be found on the planet.
Jonno • 9 days ago
I support banning burqa in every corner of the world. I don't even believe these women enjoy the dressing at all. This is the mid east primitive culture long before Islam. Nothing to do with Islam. From a Muslim.

Second only to context-free quotes from the bible is context-free quotes from The Quran. Both facinating books that you can find any quote you want and can parse it to mean anything you want. Both fruitless endeavors that in the end prove nothing.

I really do not understand the banning of the 'birkini'. It's really no different than going for a dip in the water fully clothed.
Can anyone explain the problem with this to me pls? Honestly looking for others opinions and ideas for this proposed ban.
Whilst I entirely understand the many issues the full face hijab. The security risk is very evident. For example in banks etc. Or who knows if its even a woman behind the face face veil?
But the covering of women's hair, by her own choice, is beyond me.
The birkini simply covers a womens body whilst bathing/swimming publicly.
Wtf is wrong with this? I'm not talking oppression ect, I mean what are public risks involved?
Mom424 Mod Kelchi Dropbear • 9 days ago
There is no risk to a hijab or a burkini. And I can understand people wanting to cover-up at the beach. I wish more wanted to.
Carl sagan student. Mom424 • 9 days ago
In my opinion the local family enjoying a nice day at the beach etc etc should not have to explain the finer points of why "that lady is wearing a full black sheet" to a curious child.
p1t1o Carl sagan student. • 9 days ago
Do you mean because the child should have been taught by his parents that people come in all shapes and sizes and live their lives in many different ways?
Carl sagan student. p1t1o • 9 days ago
Absolutely that's a given, and should take place at home and school. In my opinion its a form of advertisement. The world needs less fairytales not more.
p1t1o Carl sagan student. • 9 days ago
I fear that you might mean "They shouldnt wear clothes that are too islamic because I dont want to explain islam to my child" Are my fears unfounded?
avarus Kelchi Dropbear • 9 days ago
It just makes people uncomfortable seeing that as simple as that.
Mom424 Mod avarus • 9 days ago
And that's a bullshit reason. Seeing a morbidly obese person in a bathing suit makes me uncomfortable, bits hanging out everywhere...same with an old guy in a speedo. I don't see anybody in a big rush to ban them.
avarus Mom424 • 9 days ago
Sounds harsh but that's the reason, makes people uncomfortable and it's ban-able, the "western culture" & the islamic culture don't usually go well together...
Phil Giordana Fcd Mom424 • 8 days ago
Here in Nice we have a pretty good reason to feel uncomfortable with those propaganda clothes roaming around.
Jon Storey Kelchi Dropbear • 9 days ago
Well I would say anyone who goes into the sea fully dressed is either shipwrecked or a complete tool.
Maggot Jon Storey • 9 days ago
Or maybe just prefers the warming affect of a rubberized body suit because the water is too damn cold. Like here on the northern California coast…full body suits are pretty commonly worn among the surfers and scuba divers and snorkelers and such.
